One-of-a-Kind Hunting Opportunity for Alabama’s Public Land Hunters | Great Days Outdoors

Cedar Creel SOA:  6.500 acres in Dallas County

Uchee Creek SOA: 4,500 acres in Russell County

Crow Creek SOA: 400 acres in Jackson County

Fred T Stimpson SOA: 5,400 acres in Clarke County

These exceptional pieces of property are projected to provide a one-of-a-kind hunting opportunity for Alabama’s public land hunters previously only found by traveling out of state.  Several features of these properties provided WFF and FW the opportunity to design and implement a new hunting program model for providing a unique opportunity focusing on increasing the quality of the public hunt.  Their relatively small size (compared to most WMA’s) and their locations provided the unique opportunity for this program.

Typically, the properties in the WMA system are vast blocks of land that allow for a wide range of hunting opportunities for a large number of hunters.   These properties and hunting styles can seem somewhat intimidating for first time users and novice hunters, as well as hunters that only hunt private property.  We are looking forward to providing, at no additional cost, a unique public land hunting experience to these groups of hunters as well as an innovative alternative to our current public land hunters.  Each hunter successful in attaining a permit through the limited quota drawing will have the opportunity to participate, along with one hunting companion, in a 4-day deer or 2-day turkey hunt in a 300-400-acre designated hunt unit.  This hunting program model will be a far reach from the public hunting format of traditional public hunting in Alabama and will provide opportunities potentially exceeding the quality of many private hunting clubs.

We feel there is a segment of our hunting community that truly desires this type of hunting opportunity on public land.  This group values quality over quantity.  In addition to supplying this unique opportunity to our hunters, we feel this management strategy will also provide a much-needed economic boost to local economies.  Where else could a hunter go on a four-day hunt in some of the top producing quality deer areas of the state for only the cost of an Alabama hunting license and an $18 WMA hunting license?  The answer is simple, nowhere.
