Fast Cars and Hot Grills… It’s Time to Get Wild!

A mixture of fast cars, incredible food and fun times is a recipe no one can resist, especially when it’s with the Alabama Wildlife Federation.

With that said, it’s time to fire up the grills and get ready for a tasty battle with some of the best Backyard Chefs from the central Alabama area during the annual Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off at NASCAR’s biggest and most competitive track – Talladega Superspeedway – on Saturday, February 24.

Held in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage where the greatest drivers in the world rev up their engines for battle during the track’s two NASCAR weekends, Cook-Off teams will fire up their grills, smokers and fryers preparing various mouthwatering dishes that consist of game animals, birds, and fish. Last year, nearly 40 Cook-Off teams were in attendance.

Everyone who attends gets to sample the mouth-watering delicacies that includes entrees such as venison, duck, dove, pheasant and so much more! Tickets are just $40 per person or $50 per couple. Tasting the mouth-watering food, however, is just the tip of the iceberg.

While the delicious wild game sampling and musical entertainment begins at 4 p.m., gates will open at 3 p.m. for those who have pre-purchased a hot lap track ride around the historic 2.66-mile tri-oval speedway. A major highlight of the day, rides will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and are ONLY $25 in advance and $40 day of the event.

The center aisle of the garage will again feature an array of spectacular and unique silent auction items, attractively displayed for browsing as guests sample the delicious food. Expected items include autographed racing memorabilia, outdoor and college themed art prints, and ladies items.

Cook teams are needed, so bring your best recipes and get ready to battle! Entry for the cook teams is free, but teams must pre-register prior to the day of the event at www.alabamawildlife.org. Categories include wild game, fish and fowl. Prizes will be awarded to first through third place in each division, as well as Best Overall and Best Presentation. The overall winner will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 4, 2018 to compete for the title of AWF 2018 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.
