Becca Mahoney

Becca Mahoney, an Alabamian deeply connected to her state’s nature, grew up immersed in outdoor pursuits, fostering a love for the land. Managing a small farm with her husband, Mark, Becca shares her passion for nature with her grandchildren. Her lifelong quest for knowledge led her to explore traditional practices and, later, mycology, making her a leading figure in the Alabama Mushroom Society. As an active member, Becca leads expeditions, promotes citizen science, and educates others about fungi’s wonders. She is instrumental in organizing the Mushroom Faire, where she shares her collection and culinary expertise, igniting enthusiasm for foraging and mushroom lore. Becca remains dedicated to celebrating and preserving Alabama’s fungal diversity.
