This week on the Northwest Florida Fishing Report, Joe Baya checks in with Captain Adam Peebles of One Shot Charters for an offshore update and with Justin Reed for what’s happening along the beach. Offshore anglers continue to enjoy an exceptional fall bite, highlighted by steady wahoo action, blue marlin encounters, and good numbers of yellowfin tuna around the floaters. Onshore, surf anglers are experiencing one of the best pompano and whiting runs of the season, with clean water and consistent bait making for easy fishing across most beaches from Pensacola eastward.
Conditions Recap
Water quality remains excellent both offshore and in the surf, with a steady current pushing clean water up tight to the beach. Water temperatures offshore remain warm enough to support pelagics through the month, and the lack of rain has kept nearshore clarity unusually good for November. Surf conditions have been stable behind each cold front, and any shift back to southerly winds quickly restarts the pompano bite.
Offshore Report with Captain Adam Peebles
Captain Adam reports another strong week on the Edge, where wahoo fishing has been consistent and productive. He’s been picking away at fish in the thirty- to fifty-pound range without having to run far, and he continues to find scattered packs of wahoo spread along the ledge.
His spread of Nomad lures, Fathom sugar heads, and diving plugs has been working well, with no single lure dominating the bite. Further offshore, the floaters continue to produce steady blue marlin action and solid yellowfin tuna, and Adam expects the bite to remain strong through November as long as warm water holds.
Onshore & Surf Report with Justin Reed
Justin Reed says surf fishing around Pensacola has been excellent, with big pompano showing up daily and plenty of keeper whiting mixed in. Clean water and cooler temperatures have pushed fish tight to the beach, and anglers are finding pompano and whiting in the first trough, in deeper pockets, and along the edges of small holes.
Fresh shrimp paired with Fishbites White Crab continues to work well for whiting, while pompano are biting sand fleas, shrimp, and Fishbites rigs with green floats or beads. Justin expects the bite to hold until water temperatures fall into the mid-sixties.
