David Strickland

David Strickland, a husband, father, and grandfather, is an amateur naturalist, photographer, and prolific author with nearly 100 articles published in various local, national, and international publications. With over 50 years of experience in float fishing, hunting, trapping, and exploring the swamps of the nearby Sipsey River, he shares captivating stories. Currently, he’s crafting a collection of short stories delving into the rich history of this West Alabama stream and its impact on the land and its inhabitants. Despite an education spanning 11 schools and a brief stint at the University of Alabama, his true education came from two tours near Vietnam in the early 70s and the lessons taught by nature’s kindred spirits. Alongside his adventures, various pets, including squirrels, frogs, snakes, and turtles, have provided invaluable insights into his life journey.
